Signs Your Car Battery Needs to Be Replaced

When you think of a dead battery, the first thing that comes to mind is not being able to start your car. But there are some warning signs before it gets to that point.

If you try to start the car and the ignition takes longer to turn over or the crank sounds slower, that’s a warning sign. Another thing to look for is if your lights aren’t as bright. A problem with your electrical system can cause both your interior and exterior lights to appear faint.

Most vehicles also have some form of dashboard warning light that will either say CHECK ENGINE or look just like your battery.

Each of these could also mean that there’s an issue with the connections in your electrical system or your alternator, but it’s a good idea to get service right away regardless.

One way to make sure that your battery is the issue is to look at it. If it has any signs of damage like cracks or is leaking battery fluid, you’ll know to get a replacement right away.
