Nissan Altima vs Toyota Camry
Deciding which efficiently powerful and technologically forward-thinking midsize car you're going to add to the family is a very exciting process. But with competitively qualified vehicles like the 2018 Nissan Altima and the 2018 Toyota Camry on the market, how can you know for sure which one is the better choice for you?
With our new and returning customers in Mobile, Prichard, and Saraland in mind, we've created this comparison of the two to see how they stack up against each other in categories like performance, technology, and safety.
Altima vs Camry: Performance Specifications
The powertrain lineups for the 2018 Nissan Altima and the 2018 Toyota Camry are nearly identical. Both come standardly equipped with a 2.5L DOHC 4-cylinder engine and front drivetrain. Additionally, you both have a second available engine. This 3.5L DOHC V6 engine also comes with a front-wheel drivetrain.
In the Nissan Altima, you'll be able to enjoy the standard Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission) in all six trim levels. Unfortunately, the Camry does not have a traditional CVT available. You'll have to opt for one of the hybrid Camry trims to enjoy a similar transmission.
Altima vs Camry: Advanced Technology
The 2018 Nissan Altima and the 2018 Toyota Camry don't just pack a punch when it comes to power. Both are stocked with a variety of entertainment and convenience features including standard infotainment systems. These systems have many features to offer including Bluetooth® audio streaming, hands-free phone systems, rearview visibility, and Siri® Eyes Free.
The latter feature allows you to safely utilize your iPhone's Siri® capabilities without taking your eyes off the road or your hands off the wheel. Use voice commands to have Siri® look up directions, choose a song to listen to, or search the internet for new restaurants to try.
What you won't find in the Camry, though, is the Advanced Drive-Assist® Display. This feature lives behind the steering wheel and keeps you abreast of important information about your vehicle such as individual tire pressure.
Altima vs Camry: Enhanced Safety Features
The 2018 Nissan Altima and the 2018 Toyota Camry come standard with a number of advanced safety features that specialize in passively and actively protecting you and your passengers in every situation.
One of these features is a forward collision prevention system. These nearly identical features use sensors to keep an eye on the vehicle in front of you to prevent potential collisions.
Another couple of features offered by both the Altima and the Camry are the Blind Spot Warning System and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. These system monitors your blind spots at all times, and warn you both audibly and visually when there's a vehicle in them to prevent collisions.
Unfortunately, if you want these features in the Camry, they're only available as part of an elective option package for upper trim levels. In the Altima, it comes standard on many of its trim levels.
