The History of the Inn
Your hosts, Wendy and Bill James, have welcomed guests for more than 16 years in this 1897 Victorian icon of architecture. They searched for the perfect house for their bed and breakfast, and they found it in a house built centuries ago by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martin Shepard.
Many of the original features remain in the home, so you can step into history as you view the mantles, fireplaces, chandeliers, stained glass windows, and bookcases. Many historical documents were found in the attic, too, and offered an important link back to the Civil War era.
A Gourmet Breakfast
There’s no better way to start your day than a delicious, filling breakfast. The Pecan Praline French Toast smells and tastes great and provides a welcome boost of energy for the day ahead! All their B&B menus are served on fine china with antique linens, adding to the historical atmosphere.
Want treats throughout the day as you come and go? The Kate Shepard House serves gourmet teas and coffees as well as Port, Sherry, and homemade sweets around the clock. Nip into the dining room or the butler’s pantry for your fill!
